Sheridan County Launches New Emergency Alert System

Sheridan County residents now have a new way to receive critical emergency information directly from local public safety officials.
Sheridan County, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sheridan Police Department have upgraded to AlertSense, a new emergency notification system designed to deliver timely public safety alerts, severe weather warnings, evacuation information, and important community notifications.
Messages are sent directly from the local dispatch center, helping residents throughout Sheridan County including Story, Big Horn, Ranchester, Dayton, Clearmont, and surrounding rural areas, stay informed when emergencies arise.

Users can choose how they receive notifications, including text message, email, voice call, or through the mobile app. Selecting multiple notification methods may provide additional assurance that important information is received quickly.
AlertSense Replaces CodeRED
AlertSense replaces Sheridan County’s previous CodeRED emergency notification system. Residents who were enrolled in CodeRED should register with AlertSense to continue receiving county and public safety notifications.
AlertSense is separate from Everbridge, which remains in use by the City of Sheridan Public Works Department. Residents may receive different types of information through each system, so enrolling in AlertSense is important for countywide emergency and public safety communications.
During severe weather, wildfires, evacuations, road emergencies, law enforcement incidents, or other urgent situations, every second can matter. Sheridan County residents are encouraged to sign up now rather than waiting until an emergency occurs.
Community members can also help spread the word by sharing the registration information and posting the AlertSense flyer in workplaces, churches, businesses, community centers, and other public gathering places.
