Story Days returns August 28–30 with a special theme this year: “Story the Beautiful,” inspired by America the Beautiful and the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
Few places capture the beauty of America quite like Story, Wyoming.
Surrounded by the Bighorn Mountains, towering pines and the unmistakable character of a small Wyoming community, Story Days 2026 will celebrate not only the place we call home, but also the people and traditions that have helped make it special.
This year’s theme, “Story the Beautiful,” draws inspiration from America the Beautiful as communities across the country commemorate 250 years since the founding of the United States.
For Story, the theme feels especially fitting.
Story Days has always been about more than a weekend of activities. It is about neighbors serving neighbors, families gathering together, local organizations volunteering their time and generations continuing traditions that help give Story its identity.
From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, the community will come together for live music, food, the Story Days Parade, children’s activities, raffles, the silent auction, horseshoes, carriage rides and much more.

Support the Story Volunteer Fire Department Saturday Morning
One Story Days tradition deserves an especially strong turnout this year: the Story Firemen’s Breakfast.
The breakfast will be held Saturday, August 29, from 7:00–10:00 a.m. at the Story Fire Department.
Before heading to the parade or spending the day around Story, stop at the firehouse for breakfast and help support the Story Volunteer Fire Department.
In a community like Story, a volunteer fire department is about much more than a building or fire trucks. It is made up of neighbors willing to answer the call when someone needs help.
These volunteers dedicate their time to training and preparing for emergencies throughout our community and surrounding area. When the call comes, whether it involves a fire, medical emergency, accident or another situation, they are among the people Story depends upon.
The Firemen’s Breakfast provides the community an opportunity to gather around them and show its support.
Bring your family, have breakfast and help support the volunteers who help protect Story.
It is difficult to think of a better representation of “Story the Beautiful” than neighbors coming together to support neighbors who serve.
Story Days Begins Friday
The weekend gets underway Friday with Lions Club raffle ticket sales at the Story Store from 2:00–8:00 p.m.
Beginning at 4:00 p.m., hamburgers and hot dogs will be available at the Story Store, while the Story Woman’s Club will serve its popular pie and ice cream. The Story Days Silent Auction will also run from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Story Art Station.
At 5:00 p.m., World Champion sheep dog trainer Wendy Auzqui will present a sheep dog demonstration.
Friday evening concludes with the Nate Champion Band performing from 8:00–11:00 p.m. at the Story Art Station.
Parade Day Brings Story Together
Saturday is the centerpiece of Story Days.
Following the Firemen’s Breakfast, residents and visitors will begin gathering throughout town for the annual Story Days Parade at 10:00 a.m.
With this year’s “Story the Beautiful” theme, the parade provides an opportunity to celebrate Story while also recognizing America’s 250th anniversary.
After the parade, activities continue throughout the community.
Children’s games begin at Grace Chapel at 11:00 a.m., the Story Museum opens, Barbula Carriage Rides begin, and the Story Woman’s Club continues serving pie and ice cream.
There will also be plenty of live music throughout the day.
Danielle & The Outlaws perform at the Lodore from 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., followed by Cruisin from 2:30–5:30 p.m.
Saturday evening, Rich Bratten performs at the Tunnel Inn from 6:00–10:00 p.m.
The afternoon also includes the horseshoe tournament at Crilly’s Horseshoe Pit, the Women’s Club Duck Race at the Wagon Box, the conclusion of the Story Days Silent Auction and several raffle drawings.
Sunday: Worship and Community
Story Days concludes Sunday with Worship in the Park at Story Centennial Park at 10:00 a.m.
At 12:00 p.m., registration begins for the Disc Golf Tournament.
After a busy Friday and Saturday, Sunday offers another opportunity to gather together and appreciate the community and surroundings that make Story such a remarkable place to live and visit.
Celebrating Story the Beautiful
America’s 250th anniversary gives communities across the country an opportunity to reflect on the people, places and traditions that make this nation unique.
Here in the Bighorn Mountains, we have our own beautiful piece of America worth celebrating.
Story the Beautiful is found in our mountains and forests, but it is also found in something deeper.
It is found in volunteers giving their time.
It is found in organizations serving the community.
It is found in businesses supporting local events.
It is found in families lining the streets for the parade.
And it is found in neighbors gathering for breakfast Saturday morning to support the Story Volunteer Fire Department.
This August 28–30, come celebrate Story Days 2026: Story the Beautiful.
Enjoy the music. Watch the parade. Eat some pie. Visit with your neighbors. Welcome visitors to our community.
And make sure one of your stops Saturday morning is the Story Firemen’s Breakfast from 7:00–10:00 a.m.
Come celebrate the beauty of America, the beauty of community and the beauty of Story, Wyoming.
