Presented by the Story Days & Events Committee
Story is transforming once again into a winter wonderland as the second annual Story Weihnachten Christmas Market returns on December 6th, bringing the charm, flavor, and festive spirit of a traditional outdoor German Christmas market right into the heart of our mountain town. Last year’s debut captured the imagination of the local community, and this year promises to be even bigger, brighter, and more delightful for families, visitors, and neighbors alike.

Bundle up, grab the kids, bring your holiday cheer and prepare for an evening filled with lights, music, handcrafted gifts, German foods, warm drinks, and the unmistakable magic of Christmas in Story.
A Marketplace Full of Local Craftsmanship
Beginning at 3:00 p.m., guests will find two vibrant vendor areas showcasing the talent and creativity of local artisans:
Story Woman’s Club – 28 North Piney Road
Story Art Station – 32 North Piney Road
Expect handcrafted gifts, artwork, ornaments, décor, textiles, jewelry, and unique treasures perfect for everyone on your Christmas list. These artists pour their heart into their craft, making Story’s market one of the most meaningful places to shop local this season.

Authentic German Christmas Market Food
No Weihnachtsmarkt is complete without classic German cuisine and Story is pulling out all the stops again this year. Visitors will enjoy:
Potato pancakes (from Olah’s Market) with applesauce or sour cream
Authentic Nuremberg sausages, made especially for this event by Legerski’s Sausage Company
German brats, grilled and served with sauerkraut and German mustard
Soft German pretzels with optional cheese sauce
Candied almonds from Barn Door Market
Traditional homemade Lebkuchen, the beloved German gingerbread cookie
Plus, additional treats from a lineup of Story’s talented local food vendors.
To keep everyone warm, the grounds will be dotted with fire pits and outdoor heaters, perfect for lingering with friends while enjoying a German beer or glühwein, the traditional mulled wine served at Christmas markets across Europe.

Family Activities at Grace Chapel
Grace Chapel (31 North Piney Road) will host an array of children’s activities, crafts, and Christmas fun for all ages. A special highlight is the return of:
Little Red Riding Hood’s Christmas Cookies – Puppet Show
Matinee: 3:30 p.m.
Encore: 5:30 p.m.
Children may even receive a homemade cookie for attending!
Live Music Throughout the Market
Music will fill the crisp winter air as talented local musicians perform across multiple venues:
4:00–5:00 p.m. — Tessa & Brady Holzemer at the Story Woman’s Club
5:00–6:00 p.m. — Santa’s Little Yelpers, caroling across the market
5:00–6:00 p.m. — Victoria Haun, singing and playing guitar at various stops
6:00–8:00 p.m. — Levi (of Wagon Box fame) performing at the Story Woman’s Club
These performances bring a warm, nostalgic backdrop to the festivities, one of the most loved parts of last year’s market.
Additional Community Offerings
Alongside the official market festivities, several local partners are adding even more holiday delight:
NOLA Catering – 6 North Piney Road
Offering an indoor German-themed sit-down meal, first-come, first-served, perfect for guests wanting a cozy break from the outdoor winter air.

Horse-Drawn Hay Rides with Renny Barbula
Beginning at 3 p.m., these rides add a classic Christmas experience straight out of a postcard.
Story Volunteer Fire Department
A treasured community hub offering:
Fresh-cut Christmas trees
S’mores and sweet treats
A rumored visit from Santa himself around 4:30 p.m., complete with a special reading of “The Night Before Christmas”
Story Store Event Bar
Serving adult beverages including German-inspired options to keep guests warm throughout the evening.
A Night to Remember in the Heart of Story
The Story Weihnachten Christmas Market is more than an event, it’s a celebration of community, tradition, and the beauty of Story during the holiday season. Whether you come for the food, the shopping, the music, or simply the atmosphere, you’ll leave with a warm heart, and memories that linger long after the snow settles.
Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and join us for this beloved Story tradition.
December 6th. 3–8 p.m. See you at the market!
