From the Big Apple to the Big Horns

Vincent Fiore’s journey to Story, Wyoming, is a tale full of flavor and heart. Born and raised in New York, Fiore got his start in the restaurant business at a young age, eventually working his way up from kitchens to executive chef and restaurant owner. He became widely known for his witty Italian charm and creativity on The Wise Guy Kitchen, a comedy-cooking series that streamed on Amazon.

Then, during a visit to Wyoming, inspiration struck.

“A couple in Cody recognized me from The Wise Guy Kitchen, and I joked that I used to cook for wise guys, now I cook with cowboys,” Fiore said with a laugh. “And the idea just stuck. Minutes later I thought, ‘Cookin with Cowboys, that could be a great show!’”

That spark turned into an exciting television project, filmed right here in Wyoming with support from the state’s film commission. The series combines Fiore’s culinary expertise with Western heritage and local flavor, taking viewers on a journey through small-town stories, cowboy culture, and unforgettable meals.

Wyoming Hospitality Meets Italian Flavor

Fiore’s first visit to the Wagon Box this past October brought a full house for Italy Meets Wyoming, where classic Italian dishes met rustic Western style. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive and that’s exactly why he’s coming back. One of the local Story residents mentioned, “I can’t believe I’m eating food like this in Story, WY.”

“People loved the Italian dishes, and they wanted more,” Fiore said. “So this time we’re going full Italian for the holidays, a true Buon Natale experience. It’ll be the kind of Christmas dinner you’d find in any Italian home or restaurant during the season.”

The upcoming event promises an authentic taste of Italy, complete with courses that reflect the warmth, comfort, and celebration of a traditional Italian Christmas meal. Guests will not only enjoy a beautiful dinner but also the singing and humor that Fiore is known for.

More Than a Meal - It’s an Experience

What sets Chef Fiore apart is his passion for connecting people through food and stories. Cookin with Cowboys isn’t just a show about recipes,  it’s about the people, the places, and the traditions that bring meals to life.

“It’s the travel, the history, and the education behind each dish,” he said. “Everywhere we go, I learn something new, whether it’s about a place like Independence Rock, the Oregon Trail, or even cooking dinner in a milk can at the Powderhorn Ranch. Wyoming has a special spirit, and it’s become part of my story now.”

And Story, Wyoming, seems to have captured a piece of his heart too. Fiore hinted that future episodes of Cookin with Cowboys may be filmed in the Sheridan and Buffalo area, including possibly right here at the Wagon Box.
