STORY LIONS CLUB
GIFTS TOWARDS HIGHER EDUCATION GUIDELINES

COMMITTEE

The Story Lions Club Higher Education Gift Committee shall comprise of the officers and board.  All higher education gift business shall be recommended to the club at regular meetings, and voted on by the members in attendance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

An applicant must be a resident of Story or Banner.  An applicant's residency is determined by the filing address on the applicant's IRS Form 1040.  If an applicant does not file a Form 1040, and is declared on the applicant's parents Form 1040, then the applicant's residency is determined by the filing address on the parents' IRS Form 1040.

Applicants must have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5/4.0, or the equivalent.  A current transcript must accompany the application.

A gift applicant must be a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or trade school, or a recent High School graduate, or High School Senior.  All applicants must show proof of matriculation (tuition payment, dorm payments, etc.) for the upcoming term or semester.

Applicant will be considered when received by the Story Lions Club within five (5) years from the applicant's High School graduation date.

Requests for applications will be posted at the Story Post Office, Woman's Club and Library as well as other businesses in Story.  Applications and transcripts must be mailed to the Story Lions Club, P.O. Box 3, Story, WY 82842.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

All gift applicants must submit a letter (500 words or less) which should include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Your goals and objectives.
      - Why you are applying for the gift.
      - Recognition or accomplishments you have received.
      - Other information that tells us more about you as an individual including Extracurricular & Community Activities.

 

CRITERIA

The awarding of the Lions Club gifts towards higher education shall be determined based upon the following criteria:

40%

CRITERIA

Scholastic Achievement (Cumulative GPA, AP Classes, etc.)

30%

Extracurricular Activities (School related)

30%

Community Activities and Employment

 

GIFTS TOWARDS HIGHER EDUCATION

The Story Lions Club will award gifts for the Fall semester.  The Story Lions Club, in its sole and absolute discretion, has the authority to determine the gift recipient(s) and the authority to approve or deny the awarding of the Story Lions Club Scholarship Fund.  Other requirements do exist.

 

PAYMENT METHOD AND AMOUNTS

Each gift will be for $500.00.  The Story Lions Club will award one or more gifts each year depending on the number and quality of the applicants and the financial position of Story Lions Club.

Payment will be made directly to the recipient once the Story Lions Club receives evidence of matriculation for the upcoming Fall semester.

 

DEADLINES AND LIMITATION OF AWARDS

Applicants for the Fall semester will be accepted until July 1 and awarded the fourth Thursday of July.

As long as the applicant meets the Qualifications and Application Requirements, no limit will be made on the number of semesters a student may apply for the Story Lions Club Scholarship.
