FIRST - Jeff Wenkus - "The Size Matters Team" for Mini Lamb Chops
SECOND - Terry Madison for her Texas Brisket
THIRD - Susie Lunbeck "& Son" for Chicken Stew
Desserts:
FIRST: "Susie & Son" for Apple Surprise
SECOND: Ginger Vickers for her Blackberry Peach Cobbler.

Approximately 100 people bought tasting tickets and were served with another 30 to 40 who got hot dog substitutes when the food ran out!
A NICE TURNOUT FOR A FIRST TIME EVENT!

HISTORICAL STORY WALK
For approximately 1 hour beginning at 6:30 PM at the Story Woman's Club, George Lunbeck conducted a walking tour of the historic business area of Story.  This event was well attended and very informative. 

 

BANDS
Several bands performed in the fire lot throughout the day. 
After 4 pm there were bands at local establishments. 

 

 

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 2006

HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
From 7 to 9  in the morning on Saturday free hot air balloon rides were enjoyed by many.  

 

 

FIREMAN'S BREAKFAST AT THE FIREHALL
We all  started the day with a nourishing - tasty, too - breakfast at the Story Fire Hall started at 7:00 AM.

 

FOOT RACE
At 7:30 AM the foot race began at the Woman's Club.  Sign up was there a little earlier.

 

FLEA MARKET
At 8 AM the flea market opened at the Piney Creek General Store parking lot and the Story Fire Lot.  

 

 

STORY WOMAN'S CLUB
Raffle tickets for the 2006 Story - Past & Present  quilt were available from 8 AM till all the women got tired & went off the have some fun.

 

 

 

PARADE
10 AM
The greatest parade in our mountain hamlet took place through Story's main area of town.   The theme:  "Story Mountain Madness"

It was pretty much this kind of "Madness!"

MUSIC  ON THE STAGE & More IN THE FIRE LOT
At 11:30 AM the music began along with the kid's events.  The beer wagon opened and food from food vendors was available as well as at our local
eateries.  We stuffed ourselves with food, fun and visits with those we hadn't seen since last Story Day.

 

 

CHILDREN'S FUN ON THE GO
At the Story Community Church parking lot adjacent to the Fire Lot an area for kids to jump, run and compete took place after the parade.   

 

SIGN-UP AT THE WAGON BOX INN FOR HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT
11:30 am

 

PARADE & RAFFLE WINNERS
will be announced in the fire lot at 1 PM

PIG CATCHING CONTEST
At the Fire Lot at 2 PM   a number of age categories participated in catching the oinkers.   Prizes were awarded.  This event was a hoot to watch with the action hot and heavy... usually in the pig's favor!!  

 

PIGGIE AUCTION
At 5 PM the piggies were auctioned to the highest bidder at the Wagon Box Inn with Stan Sharp as the auctioneer.  (Funds raised go to support the Story Day events.)  

 

A DUCK RACE  
was held at 4 PM.  The ducks SWAM DOWN THE CREEK starting from the Wagon Box Inn.  The ducks had been sold out for days..

The library held their annual book sale and give-away...free popcorn, too.

 

 

 Food and drink was  available at our eateries.

 

 

A quilt show was enjoyed by all.

 

 

General fun and spending a laid-back time in Story, Wy was the order of the day...as always.  Some visited with good friends and some just sat back and watched the activities.
